December 17, 2014 - Pontiac Community Awards

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a member of Detroit Metro Mashup is that we are often invited to attend events such as the Pontiac Community Awards, which were held this year on December 17 at the Downtown 51 Grille in Pontiac, MI. The event is organized by the Pontiac Downtown Business Association (PDBA) to honor people and organizations who have worked hard and given their time and resources towards building and promoting a more dynamic and prosperous community.
This year Patrice Waterman, President of the Pontiac City Council, was co-presenter of the awards along with the master of ceremonies and President of the PDBA, Glen Konopaskie. In addition to the awardees, many guests were present to applaud and honor these significant contributors to our local well-being, as well as to enjoy the excellent food and beverages provided by our host, Downtown 51 Grille. In total, “Nine award categories were handed out for Design, Volunteer of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in the Community, both a Youth and Senior Award, as well as recognition to a Service Group, Municipal partner, and Community Partner award.” (Courtesy of Christian Marcillo).

2014 winners were:

  • ELEKTRICITY Night Club for the Design Award
  • Kathie Henk, The Henk Studio & Jim Terebus, Erebus Haunted House - Volunteer of the Year Award
  • Downtown 51 Grille for the Outstanding Achievement Award
  • The Pontiac Garden Club for the Service Group Award
  • Waterford Regional Fire Department for the Municipal Award
  • Kyle Westburg of West Construction for the Community Partner Award
  • Russ Di’Bartolomeo of 7 North and Robert Carazim of Canvas Pontiac for the Community Award
  • Andy Meisner, Oakland County Treasurer for the Presidents Award

The award-winners were definitely a deserving bunch of people and organizations this year. We at Detroit Metro Mashup would like to thank the Pontiac Downtown Business Association, not only for the invitation to attend, but for the hard work they do every day to support SE Michigan in general and our local Pontiac community specifically.

Please go enjoy our photos of the festivities, above.
