May 2-5, 2013 - Michigan International Woman's Show
Detroit Metro Mashup photojournalists attended the 18th Michigan International Women's Show on Saturday, May 4, 2013, in Novi Michigan at the Suburban Collection Showplace. The Detroit News presented the 2013 version of this annual event, while it was sponsored by Kroger, Chevrolet, The Balancing Act, Farmers Insurance and the United Dairy Industry of Michigan. The show opened Thursday, May 2 and runs (or ran, depending upon when you read this) through Sunday, May 5.
The gallery link above holds a huge pile of photographs that we took at this year’s show. It was the author’s first time at this huge exhibition of women’s goods and services. Fortunately, my fellow photographer has attended for over 10 years, knew the lay of the land, and was able to bring me up to speed about the place in between bouts of excited shopping. Having said that, there is simply too much to cover in a brief narrative such as this; our photos give a much better overview of the event and how we saw it during the 5 PM to 8 PM period on Saturday, so please go take a look.
The exposition has hundreds of exhibitors and includes shopping, fashion shows and accessories, cooking, makeovers and cosmetics displays, perfumes and colognes, purses and shoes, gifts of all types, decorative items, lingerie, food (including food samples), travel materials, art, crafts, and much more. A number of celebrities were on hand at scheduled times during the course of the event, so if you want to plan for next year be sure to check in on their website before scheduling your visit.
