June 8, 2013 - Berkley Art Bash
The 12th Annual Berkley Art Bash was held Saturday, June 8. It’s too bad this is a one day event, there sure was a lot to see and do. The Bash has music, food trucks for the first time this year, many of the stores held sidewalk sales, and, oh yeah, art! Tents filled with paintings, jewelry, metalwork, ceramics, photography, and many more types of arts and crafts marched in a double row down the center of 12 Mile Road, which was capped at the west end of the Bash by a stage where various musicians and DJs filled the air with their craft. In addition to the adult artists, the Berkley Art Bash is known for featuring young people’s art; people as young as eight years old have been known to display at this show. Overall, approximately 98 percent of the artists are from Michigan, primarily the Detroit Metro area, and the show attracts about 10,000 people.
They were celebrating “12 years on 12 Mile,” this year. Next year you should come early and stay late, because there is a lot to see and do at this festival and Berkley is a great place to do it. There was fun to be had by all. Because words never do an art fair justice, click on the photo stack above and see how we at Detroit Metro Mashup saw it.
